Many people who receive
FSSA services or who work with social services agencies are aware of
changes in the organization of the Family and Social Services
Administration. The new system was rolled out locally in March, and
this has presented some clients and agencies with issues receiving
services like TANF, Food Stamps, and Medicaid.
To help communicate the concerns associated with this change, a coalition of social service agencies, state legislators, and local government officials sponsored a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, June 25, from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. in The Commons at Ivy Tech Community College, 200 Daniels Way, Bloomington. We encouraged all interested people, organizations, elected officials, and stakeholders to attend this meeting. United Way of Monroe
County sponsored Rural Transit
rides to and from Ivy Tech via the 4th and Washington Street
transfer station. Riders simply showed the
information
flyer to the driver.
The meeting was hosted
by WFHB General
Manager and United Way Board member Will Murphy.
At this meeting, we heard from clients about their experiences and from agencies impacted by this change. We also heard ideas about changes that can address these issues. Together we can make differences that will improve the lives of our citizens. For more information, see the flyer. This Town Hall Meeting is sponsored by United Way of Monroe County, Senator Vi Simpson, Representative Peggy Welch, Representative Matt Pierce, the City of Bloomington, Monroe County Government, Perry Township Trustee Dan Combs, Bloomington Township Trustee Linda Sievers, Indiana Legal Services, and the South Central Community Action Program. Food Stamps, Medicaid and other Department of Family Resource
programs, visit FSSA.
