Donor Choice Agencies

United Way encourages donors to consider a gift to the Community Action Fund, which helps ensure each person has the building blocks for a better life.

Through the donor choice program, donors also have an opportunity to direct their United Way campaign gifts to member agencies and other eligible nonprofit organization in the community. Designated organizations must have a Section 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS and have a local presence.

The list of current Donor Choice Agencies contains many of the eligible organizations in our community; United Way member agencies are shown in CAPITAL LETTERS.

United Way member agencies have passed rigorous standards in the areas of governance, operations and finance. They partner with United Way to meet immediate needs and make long-term improvements in people's lives.  United Way does not evaluate non-member agencies.

If you choose to designate an organization not listed here, please provide contact information for that organization so that we can obtain the necessary documentation. Please contact the United Way of Monroe County at 812-334-8370 with questions about the donor choice program.

Donor designations to non-member organizations are assessed a fee, currently 12%, that covers the cost of raising, processing, verifying and distributing the funds.
